Based in Los Angeles, EMU is a bass music veteran who has been making beats for years. One of SoCal’s best-known dubstep heads, EMU caught attention with his remix of Horace Andy’s “Skylarking.” He went on to make major waves with a fresh “Throw Some D’s” remix, and his track with 12th Planet called “Control” on Basshead Records was a hit, and introduced him to an international audience. A long time friend of BRAP DEM! RECORDINGS, EMU approached us with the FREAK! EP. FREAK! is a writhing, tropical-tinged, dance floor banger, with pounding bass lines, and syncopated beats that induce dancing, and shape throwing. The remixes come from boss producers, UFO! & KURU, DON FROTH, and known EMU collaborator, PAWN. This EP is ready to make bass bins knock in any flavor you like.

It was a gloomy start of summer in San Francisco in 2011 when label boss Sam Supa attended a BBQ with a banging sound system in a remote industrial part of town where trolley cars go to die. There he heard lots of great music but it was a tall, skinny kid, with a beanie pushing buttons and making fantastic sounds happen that caught his ears. BENITO hails from SF and makes what we like to call futuristic, beat-driven, space juke or footwork for Martians if you please. Ethereal in nature with minimal drums and imaginative patterns that are other worldly but carried by solid bass. BDR is proud to present 5 tracks by BENITO we feel push things forward. JASON BURNS has been hidden away in his Cleveland Ohio studio making his unique personal brand of deep, dub based, soul music. A DJ and producer who was there, at the start of the inclusion of Dubstep in the US dance scene, his productions are influenced but move beyond Dubstep into R&B, 2Step, Soul, Garage, and House riddims. The early demos sent to the label blew us away. The raw soul, and minimal vocals, the sexiness, and warmth of his tunes are next level.
Over a year in the making BRAP DEM! RECORDINGS is very proud to present the SEE THRU YOU EP as its 10th release. This EP is about love, and music.
DIE 4 U a syrupy sexy bit of 2Step with pads and synth-lines that beg the listener to fall in love on the dance floor.
I CANT CHANGE is a dub tinged ballad, a note to love, expressing itself in traditional dub riddims with future forward construction that stays with you.
SEE THRU YOU swings and sways with a playful accusing vocal sample that will incite bump and grind way more than the deep head nod.

APRIL 26TH – HEARTS OF BASS – I LOVE JAPAN VOL.001
HEART OF BASS is a non-profit based in the SF Bay Area who does humanitarian work and mobilizes dance music lovers to get involved in fund-raising for social issues. BRAP DEM! Recordings teamed up with HEARTS OF BASS to present: HEARTS OF BASS - I LOVE JAPAN VOLUME 01.
The label contacted various producers asking for tunes. The outpouring was so great the compilation will come out in 2 volumes. Spanning the spectrum of bass music, from Dubstep to Garage to Drumstep to Glitch to experimental bass riddims, there is something for everyone. All money will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. Volume 01 contains an amazing set of tunes all donated and some created just for this compilation. This is a snapshot of the freshest and most progressive producers up from the underground to the ears of listeners.
The artwork was created by L.A. based artist FARRON LOATHING who donated the piece which will also be made into a limited edition print with all proceeds going to Japanese Quake relief.
